St. Michaels University School believes that every one of our students has the ability to excel. We also recognize that the path to excellence will be different for each of us, which is why we are highly adaptive in our approach to education.

Major breakthroughs in brain research have illuminated how students learn. SMUS has incorporated much of this research into their curriculum to advance their techniques in both teaching and learning and to make SMUS one of the most learner-centred university preparatory environments in Canada.

  • SMUS recently created a unique position; the Director of Learning will ensure an individualized path to academic success and university acceptance for each student.
  • We have worked with Ken O’Connor, an internationally recognized educator, to developed more effective assessment and evaluation processes.
  • Our adoption of differentiated learning practices from Kindergarten through Grade 12 has enhanced our students’ understanding of their own minds and their overall academic performance.
  • SMUS was recently recognized as a model in assessment practices at the Assessment Training Institute’s Fourth Annual Sound Grading Conference in Portland.

Part of providing an outstanding education is maintaining an outstanding faculty. Our teachers are passionate and articulate people who are exteremly respected by their peers. Not only to they engage students in the classroom, but they also form a supportive team that works together to support each and every student.

Many of our faculty have been recognized with awards:

An exceptional education demands equal attention be paid to teachers and learner, and requires us to constantly re-examine our methods in and out of the classroom.
