ACT or SAT? Which should I write?
Among the multitude of different decisions that students encounter around U.S. college and university applications, one of the most confusing ones is the difference between the SAT and ACT tests, and which one to write in order to obtain the best possible score for college admission. The Princeton Review Assessment (PRA) was created to help students find an answer to just that question. Designed to help students determine which test they would score higher on, the PRA is a great way to ‘meet’ both tests. The PRA is a 3.5 hour exam, with components from both the SAT and ACT tests, that gives students an idea of what each test is like in terms of style and delivery. After writing the PRA, students will receive a detailed analysis to help guide their decision in which test to write. Results provide both a quantitative and a qualitative score, to indicate a student’s comfort level and aptitude for each test.
Next PRA: TBD
ACT Preparation
For high school students planning to attend an American college or university, the ACT is quickly becoming an important alternative to the SAT. In 2010, over 1.5 million students took the test. The ACT has a different format and covers different content from the SAT, so it requires a different set of skills in order to be successful.
Next ACT Preparation Series: April 22 to June 7, 2012. (Offered through the Princeton Review)

SAT Preparation
For high school students planning to attend an American college or university, one of the most important pre-requisites is a reasoning test called the SAT. Along with a student's high school academic performance, personal recommendations and extracurricular activities, many US colleges consider SAT scores major factors in their admission process.
St. Michaels University School offers an SAT preparation course at various times during the school year. This course familiarizes students with the elements of the SAT examination, provides them with strategies for each section, and helps students develop an individualized study program.
Students can either complete the entire series or register for single courses focusing on specific sections of the test. The cost of the course includes a copy of Barron's SAT and extra course materials. Full-day workshops include lunch in the cafeteria at Brown Hall. Individual follow-up tutorials are available through private arrangement with the instructor for an additional charge. Please note that the cost of registration for the SAT exam is not included in this course.
Next SAT Preparation Series: March 10 to April 28, 2012. (Register online)
