University Counselling Program Overview

This page will provide insight as to how the University Counselling department engage with students and families through the process of exploring post-secondary options, finding fit, and preparing for applications to universities around the world.

The post-secondary world is vast and SMUS students are exposed to a whole host of options, including local, national and international destinations. We encourage students to take the following into account when pondering their choices:

  • Program options and requirements
  • University supports and services for undergrad students: housing, learning support, career services, study abroad options, co-op or internship possibilities
  • University options for engagement: athletics, activities, service options,
  • Financial fit: scholarship, funding possibilities, ability/need to work while going to school
  • Geographic fit: weather, proximity to home, city environment where university is located
