Holiday Program Worker

Applications are invited for a casual position at St. Michaels University School - Junior School’s Holiday Program. The successful candidate will come with a love of children aged 5–11 years, the energy and enthusiasm to provide varied and enjoyable activities, and the ability to work with parents and staff in a friendly and effective manner.

Duties include planning activities, set up and clean up, guiding children and assisting in the Holiday Program.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Applicant must be a minimum of 19 years of age;
  • Ability to work as an effective team member;
  • Attend team meetings, staff meetings and training sessions;
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule;
  • Ensure all licensing regulations are understood, practiced and are adhered to;
  • Experience working with groups of children 5-11 years of age in a child care/recreational setting;
  • Must meet Vancouver Island Health Authority licensing requirements for Criminal Record check, current First Aid and CPR; at least 20 hours of relevant training in either child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition (must be certified);
  • Provision of a current Solicitor General Criminal Record check (application is completed through the school).

Hours of Work:

Friday (pro-d days only), as well as Monday to Friday during Winter, Spring, and Summer camps. Hours are 8:00 am – 5:30 pm.

Rate of Pay:

$21.20 per hour to start, plus vacation pay.
