Learning Resources Teacher

Part-time (0.9 FTE) maternity leave position, April 24, 2017 to June 23, 2017

We are looking for a dynamic, collaborative, and positive individual to join our faculty. At SMUS, we believe passionately that the most important lessons - both intellectual and personal - enable our students to discover who they are as individuals as well as who they have the potential to become. We also recognize that the path to excellence will be different for each of us, which is why we are highly adaptable in our approach to education. Our small class sizes and access to technology, materials and resources allow us to use an inquiry-based, Reggio-inspired approach.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to teach in British Columbia
  • Specialization in the field of Special Education
  • The successful candidate will have experience in a Learning Resource role with the following expectations:
    • the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, in support of students, teachers and parents;
    • demonstrated professionalism and excellent communication and organizational skills;
    • demonstrated ability to create, implement and maintain documentation required by the Ministry of Education to support students with exceptionalities;
    • an understanding of the Kindergarten to Grade 5 Concept-based, Competency-driven BC Curriculum;
    • experience implementing remedial interventions and enrichment opportunities;
    • experience using assistive technology as a tool to support learning.
