Learning Resource Teachers

We are hiring for maternity leave positions and potentially additional full and/or part time positions from K-12. Applicants should include in their application whether they are most interested in full-time or part-time work and to which grade levels they feel their particular skills are best suited.

Qualifications for All Positions:

Learning Resource Teacher

Junior School, .9 FTE, one-year term, maternity leave, September 2017 to June 2018

The successful candidate will have experience in a Learning Resource role with the following expectations:

  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, in support of students, teachers and parents;
  • Demonstrated professionalism and excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and maintain documentation required by the Ministry of Education to support students with exceptionalities;
  • An understanding of the Kindergarten to Grade 5 Concept-based, competency-driven BC Curriculum;
  • Experience implementing remedial interventions and enrichment opportunities;
  • Experience using assistive technology as a tool to support learning.

Learning Resource Teacher

Senior School, 1.0 FTE, one-year term, maternity leave, September, 2017 to June, 2018

The successful candidate will have experience in a Learning Resource role with the following expectations:

  • Support a variety of learners including students with learning disabilities, giftedness, challenges with mental health, and executive functioning weaknesses;
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and maintain documentation required by the Ministry of Education to support students with exceptionalities;
  • Proficient in instruction in, and application of, individualized learning strategies and assistive technologies;
  • Proficient in use of technology for day-to-day documentation and communication;
  • Strong knowledge of Math and Science (particularly at the grade 9 and 10 level);
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and triaging;
  • Detail-oriented and proficient in using technology for communication;
  • Strong communication/collaboration skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Learning Resource and Associate Teacher

Senior School, 1.0 FTE, one-year term, maternity leave, September, 2017 to June, 2018

The successful candidate will have experience in a Learning Resource role with the following expectations:

  • Support a variety of learners including students with learning disabilities, giftedness, challenges with mental health, and executive functioning weaknesses;
  • Demonstrated ability in instructing students in a wide variety of learning strategies;
  • Experience in using technology for day-to-day documentation and communication, and assistive technologies to support students with accommodations;
  • Strong knowledge of Math and Science (particularly at the grade 9 and 10 level);
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and triaging;
  • Team player who can anticipate problems and be pro-active in approach;
  • Strong administrative background and detail-oriented;
  • Strong communication/collaboration skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
