Middle School Humanities Teacher

Part time (.5 FTE) one-year term, September, 2017 – June, 2018

We are looking for a dynamic, collaborative, and positive individual to join our faculty in the Middle School teaching Humanities to Grades 6 to 8, starting in September 2017.

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in appropriate discipline
  • Substantial experience as a Middle School teacher
  • Familiarity and experience with the BC Ministry of Education Humanities curriculum
  • Understanding of creative and innovative teaching strategies particularly inquiry and project-based learning
  • Experience and aptitude in integrating technology into the learning experience
  • Ability to support a variety of learners including students with learning disabilities, giftedness, challenges with mental health and executive functioning weaknesses
  • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and maintain documentation required by the Ministry of Education to support students with exceptionalities
  • Proficient in instruction in, and application of, individualized learning strategies and assistive technologies
  • Understanding of and experience with differentiated instruction and assessment for learning
  • Willingness to participate in the extra-curricular activities of the school
