Health Centre

The facility houses six beds (plus overflow), provisions for overnight stays, a wheelchair-accessible shower, and a comfortable, home-like setting. Students are also within walking distance to a lab and an X-ray facility, and there is a hospital located within a five-minute drive.

Boarding students will have the opportunity to meet the school doctors and nurses during the first term to discuss any health concerns or issues. All new boarders will have a health history and physical examination conducted by one of the school physicians (both male and female doctors are available). This will serve as a benchmark for the remainder of their time at the school. The fee of $50 will be billed to the student’s account. Full disclosure of any past medical history will enable us to provide the best possible care for your child during their time at the school.

For BC students, immunization records are available from the CRD Public Health Nurse at 250-388-2200 (ask for the SMUS Public Health Nurse).

Students staying overnight in the health centre require monitoring and students missing class because of illness are required to stay in the health centre.
