Skills Training

SMUS offers workshops throughout the year to provide opportunities for participants to obtain additional life skills.

Driver Training

To support students in obtaining their driver's license, SMUS and Wallace Driving School offer the following program:

Premium Graduated Licensing Program: Approved Course

  • 18 hours of theory with flexible choices of days and times (monthly)
  • 12 hours in the vehicle arranged individually with the school
  • 2 credits for High School and six months off the “N”
  • A training car for the test is included with our special guarantee*
  • 8 hours of e-learning, including driver psycho-metric training

* Wallace Driving School’s “Special Guarantee” is offered to Premium GLP students, provided the student logs 40 hours of practice (as outlined by the instructor and if they are ready for the test); any extra coaching or testing necessary to have the student licensed (excludes any fees paid to ICBC) will be at no additional cost to the student.

Successful completion of any GLP course within 365 days of the learner phase entitles a learner two High School credits and the student may be eligible for a six month reduction off their “N” if the student remains at-fault crash free and point free for 18 months.

The classroom sessions are broken into three six-hour sessions or six three-hour sessions with small classes designed to meet the student’s schedule.

Students must attend all three sessions (make-up lessons are available on a limited basis, at an alternate location). Students organize their driving sessions directly with Wallace Driving School, and can begin as soon as they have registered, and have obtained their ‘L’ designation. Driving times are flexible so they meet the individual needs of the students.
