Students who take this course will receive two credits of Applied Skills on their transcript. They will also be eligible for a 6-month reduction in the Novice stage of the Graduated Licensing Program.

  • Twenty hours of classroom time with BC-certified teachers.
  • Twelve hours of private driving lessons.
  • Defensive driving techniques that integrate with classroom theory.
  • Highway and downtown driving experience.
  • Vehicle handling skills: uphill, downhill, parallel parking, backing into parking stalls, three-point turns, risk perception and running commentary.
  • Classroom sessions and driving lesson pick-up at SMUS (most driving sessions are 1.5 hours).
  • Road test package.

Students must attend all three sessions (make-up lessons are available on a limited basis, at an alternate location). Students organize their driving sessions directly with Wallace Driving School, and can begin as soon as the classroom sessions have begun. Driving times are flexible so they meet the individual needs of the students.

Students are also required to complete a minimum of 48 additional (documented) hours of driving practice before doing their Class 7 Novice road test. For students who do not have access to a vehicle, Wallace Driving School has a number of different car and lesson packages available:

Six hours $480
Twelve hours $960
Twenty hours $1,600
