Senior Boys rugby

SMUS rugby teams have a long tradition of producing some of the country's best players

The SMUS rugby program has a long tradition of excellence and is renowned throughout the province, including a recent three-year stretch of the Senior Boys team winning the AA Provincial Championship (2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17).

SMUS is one of the best schools in Canada to develop as a player, with focused skill sessions, a low player-to-coach ratio, and individually designed weight training programs for athletes.

The SMUS rugby program has produced Canadian rugby greats such as 2014 Canada's Sports Hall of Fame inductee Gareth Rees '85, Ed Fairhurst '97, David Spicer '03 and Quinn Ngawati ’17.

Current students on our Boys and Girls rugby teams have represented Vancouver Island, BC and Canada at tournaments nationally and internationally.
