Small groups can meet in the McGillivray room, students can use one of 18 desks for independent study, and everyone can use the computers on the main floor for a variety of tasks.

Buddy Reading pairs Senior School students with Junior School students to spend an afternoon sharing books and playing games. SMUS also participates in Drop Everything and Read once a year, during which the entire school spends 15 minutes reading novels, magazines or whatever is on hand.
