An educator must lead by example.

With Bachelor degrees in History and Education as well as a Masters’ degree in Classical, Near Eastern and Religious studies, Brad has a diverse set of interests. He has taught in situations from an alternative program for struggling students (Coquitlam Alternate Basic Education) to an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Port Moody.

Balancing out his academic side, he has also played Junior hockey, captained the UBC Men’s hockey team, represented Canada at the World University games in hockey and was an Academic All Canadian for two consecutive years.

Now a 15-year veteran of teaching, he has found good company in the SMUS English department and is enjoying his time on the Island.

“SMUS is an idyllic setting and an excellent working environment,” he says. “The English department is a stimulating place, and I enjoy my colleagues.”

As his philosophy indicates, Brad believes leading by example is important. When he isn’t in the classroom he indulges interests in sports, fitness, architecture, literature, and art.
