Tune into the needs of your students, provide an environment where they can take risks and create a classroom community.

Before coming to SMUS, Eileen taught science at a francophone high school in Nova Scotia for 12 years. She was involved in curriculum development and worked with the Atlantic Provinces Educational Foundation (APEF) and the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC). She moved to BC for a change of scenery and her move happily coincided with an opening in the Senior School science department.

“All my life, I have loved science,” says Eileen. “Before I was a teacher I was a practicing field geologist and teaching science seemed to be an excellent way to share my love of the discipline.”

In addition to teaching, Eileen has been the yearbook advisor since 2007 and has assisted with the Reach for the Top team.
