I help students understand their capabilities and potential.

For Keith, the challenges of leading the boarding students and staff are invigorating and energizing.

“The kids bring an incredible amount of energy and hope to my work,” says Keith. “Every day is different and enables me to use my strengths.”

Keith grew up in Ontario, and attended McGill in Montreal where he spent four years playing Varsity basketball while earning a BEd. He began his career in Vancouver teaching at Archbishop Carney and St. Patrick Regional Secondary before crossing the moat to the Island. Since joining SMUS, Keith and his wife, Michelle, have served as Senior Assistants in Timmis House and Senior Houseparents in Bolton.

One of the major movements in boarding has been leadership training. Keith teaches the Five Practices of Leadership as put forth by Kouzes and Posner to staff, faculty and students in an effort to highlight the capabilities he believes everyone has.

“Once a person forms and idea of what they are capable of, they understand how to communicate, how to serve their community and how to navigate through the troubling times that we all face.”

When Keith isn’t working he enjoys coaching volleyball, playing hockey and spending time with his family.
