I have a deep passion for our school and much pride in how we impact the lives of so many children.

After completing a Diploma in Business Management at Bishops University, Shara took a gap year in Grand Cayman, fell in love with scuba diving and ended up teaching it. Following that, she spent two years working in the film industry in BC and pursuing another one of her passions: acting. She has also spent time teaching research methods to social science students at UVic and more recently as a regional manager in pharmaceutical sales.

As Director of Annual Fund and Major Gifts at SMUS, Shara oversees the fundraising campaigns required to support school operations, financial assistance and the building of facilities. She meets with donors who are passionate about creating fantastic facilities and programs for our students and teachers. As Director of the SMUS Global Fund, she finds much joy in travelling overseas to meet with Alumni and current families to ask for their support of the School.

Shara is proud of the efforts of her team and says, “It feels great to come to work each day and know we are celebrating student success, connecting our community and making sure SMUS continues to compete on the world stage.”

Outside her working life, Shara is often found auditioning for, or performing in plays. “Nothing feeds my soul more than telling the stories of others. If it is through theatre or reiterating a story from the SMUS archives I feel most connected to people when I get to learn about them and share their incredible journeys,” she says.

Shara also loves time with her family and says, “As a mother of two SMUS boys I am most excited when we travel together, spend time outdoors, or binge-watch great Netflix shows.”
