Every child can learn; it’s up to us to find out how.

Sharon spent the first 18 years of her career as a speech therapist in the public school system. After her children were born, she opened a private practice and the Victoria Stuttering Clinic. After 10 years of private practice, she decided to pursue her teaching degree.

“I am passionate about helping children understand how they learn and how they can improve their learning,” Sharon says. “I also really believe in the magic of music. It brings out your creative self in a fun environment and is really stimulating for the brain!”

Sharon worked for several years in the Saanich school district before arriving at the Junior School. She enjoys working with all of the incredibly talented and dedicated staff and students in the SMUS community. She is a lifelong learner, and enjoys sharing her love of learning with others.

“All of the education I have received has greatly enriched my life,” she says. “My wish is that all students would feel the same about education and learning.”

Outside of the school, Sharon is a competitive rower and manages the Adult Novice Rowing Program for the Victoria City Rowing Club on Elk Lake. Her other hobbies include quilting, reading and playing the piano.
