With the right support and guidance, every student has the potential to do whatever their heart desires.

Zyoji learned about SMUS thanks to his Cranbrook, BC connection with alumni Craig Farish ’90 and Ian Farish ‘89. He joined SMUS as a houseparent and taught Grade 9 Science before joining the Middle School mathematics department.

“What I love most is being involved in the SMUS community,” he says. “I feel very fortunate to be able to teach young people.”

Zyoji’s greatest goal is to assist students to achieve their goals. He tries to turn mathematics from a feared subject into a "can-do" subject by showing its applicability to real life. He also believes in the importance of outdoor education and the opportunities for personal growth that it provides.

Zyoji enjoys spending time with his family and he takes every opportunity he can to play outdoors. He loves the ocean, surfing, camping and hiking.
