Situated on 19 park-like acres in Victoria, British Columbia, the modern facilities at St. Michaels University School (SMUS) provide the ideal setting for a wide range of events such as conferences, corporate retreats, sporting events, weddings, theatrical performances and movie productions.

SMUS permits external groups to rent our facilities under the following conditions:

  • Use of the facilities and/or space is in line with the values and goals of SMUS and does not disrupt the daily operations of the school.
  • The group or agency making a request adheres to a nondiscriminatory policy in membership, goals and activities based on personal beliefs or characteristics such as political views, religion, national or ethnic origin, race, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disabilities. Further, the services of the group or agency are beneficial to the community-at-large.

Sun Centre

  • 30,600 square feet

  • 2870 square foot lounge

The Sun Centre is a two-storey, 30,600 square foot building located in the heart of SMUS. The ground level Student Commons would be ideal for receptions or additional meeting space. The upper level features the stately and uplifting dining hall and kitchen, with capacity to serve 380 people. During special events, this space with its lofty cathedral ceilings, natural light and views of the fields and quadrangle, plays host to visitors, parents, students, alumni and friends.

Copeland Lecture Theatre

  • 1500 square feet
  • Opened in 2004
  • 135-person seating capacity
  • Multi-purpose hall with theatre style seating
  • Projection and sound capabilities

Brown Hall

  • 6,120 square feet
  • Opened in 1957

The old dining hall has been seismically upgraded and converted into a multi-purpose/heritage space for recitals, dance, yoga, workshops and a variety of other activities.

The Chapel

  • 3300 square feet 
  • Opened in 1961

A large space with movable chairs to set up a variety of seating configurations. Audio/visual equipment is available for use.

SMUS offers a variety of indoor and outdoor reception spaces to accommodate a variety of events. Outdoors in the central quadrangle, the Christine Duke Theatre, or on large natural fields. Indoors in Brown Hall, The Chapel, the Conference Room or the Sun Centre.

Three Separate Residences

  • Each three-storey residence offers up to 85 beds
  • Opened in 1992
  • Single and twin rooms
  • Private washroom in each room
