SMUS is excited to announce that beginning in September, we will be celebrating our Jubilee anniversary, marking 50 years since the amalgamation of St. Michael’s School and University School in 1971. This transformational event led to the successful and highly admired Kindergarten to Grade 12 boarding and day school that we know and love today.

While the Jubilee will be a celebration of St. Michaels University School, it will also pay tribute to the legacy of our founding schools dating back to 1906 (University School) and 1910 (St. Michael’s School). While acknowledging the past and present, our Jubilee alongside our Floreat strategic plan, will also provide an opportunity to look forward with excitement to the future.

Most importantly, everyone in the SMUS community is invited! The Jubilee will be a nine-month, community-wide celebration starting with a kick-off event in September 2021. More details of this event will come in due course.

Throughout the 2021-22 school year, students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, parents, alumni, and the extended school community will participate in different events to commemorate the legacy of SMUS, and to look at what the future holds.

We are hopeful that these events will allow us to be together again in person at formal dinners, concerts, sporting events and more, along with our current families, alumni and all other community members. Indeed, the Jubilee year will culminate with a big celebration at Alumni Weekend in the spring of 2022.

“I am looking forward to our Jubilee year starting in September, when we can celebrate 50 years of extraordinary growth and achievement, hopefully connect again as individuals after 18 months apart, and look forward to building momentum through Floreat to 2030, and to our next centenary in 2071!” says Head of School Mark Turner.
