This summer, St. Michaels University School (SMUS) is serving up a truly unique experience for young squash players: a five-day squash camp led by international expert coach Mohamed Elkeiy, who is traveling from Egypt—one of the world’s powerhouses in the sport. The camp is hosted Aug. 11-15, 2025 for youth aged 13-17 and is available as a day camp or overnight camp.
SMUS is partnering with Elkeiy for the first time to bring this elite experience to Victoria. Elkiey is a former PSA player with over 20 years of experience coaching elite juniors and professional players. This camp emphasizes technical training, as well as mental and physical conditioning, to develop well-rounded athletes who can outsmart and outlast their competition. It is designed for passionate squash players who want to elevate their skills to the next level.
More than Training
What sets this squash camp apart isn't just the level of instruction; it's the full experience.
"We’re combining high-level squash training with the full overnight experience in one of the most beautiful settings in the country," said Elkeiy. "It’s not just about getting better on court, it’s about building friendships, learning to live independently for a week, and having fun in a supportive community."

Throughout the week, campers will sharpen their technical skills, tactical awareness, fitness, and mental toughness, with an emphasis on building confidence.
"Whether they’re new to the sport or have been playing for years, I want each camper to leave feeling stronger, smarter, and more confident in their game," Elkeiy explained.
The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between intensity and camaraderie. Hard work on the court is balanced with off-court activities, including group games, shared meals, and time spent bonding in residence halls.
"There’s great energy in the dorms, and lots of laughs. The kids support each other and build friendships that last beyond the week," added Elkeiy.
Player-Centered Learning
Elkeiy’s coaching philosophy centers around personalized learning and positive reinforcement.
"Every kid learns differently, and my job is to create a space where they feel comfortable pushing themselves," he added. As a coach, Elkeiy is also passionate about helping young players develop mental resilience through mobility work, focus sessions, and goal setting—essential tools for thriving both on and off the court.
Above all, Elkeiy hopes campers leave with more than just improved squash skills. He wants all the participants to leave with a sense of self-belief and connection and to know that it’s okay to take risks, to make mistakes and to push themselves. He highlight that they should also have fun doing it.
