Four police officers smile at the tournament

The Victoria City Police Basketball Tournament is a fixture on the local high school basketball scene. The tournament regularly  attracts many of the top senior girls and boys teams from across British Columbia.

The prestigious event is in it's 53rd edition in 2026 and is sponsored and run by members of the Victoria City Police Athletic Association. This year's tournament includes eight girls and eight boys teams, including both SMUS Senior Blue Jags squads. Games take place over three days, Jan. 15-17, in the St. Michaels University School single and double gyms at 3400 Richmond Road.

In 2025, both the SMUS Senior girls and Senior boys teams won their respective divisions.  This marked the first time in the history of the high-profile tournament that SMUS has won both championships in the same year. Watch the video
