A native of Vancouver Island, Timio graduated from Princeton University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in politics and economics before moving to China to work in its growing BC offshore system.

In the northeastern city of Dalian, he started his career as an academic advisor and university counsellor, while also teaching AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics and Social Studies courses. During that time, he developed a passion for hiking, expat literature and travel – visiting 18 countries in total.

After four years in China, including one year as administrator, he accepted a position in 2012 as university counselor at Brentwood College, where he spent two years advising students on post-secondary and future pathway choices while teaching courses in business and international relations.

Now at SMUS, he continues to work with students to explore the wide world of post-secondary education and to help students identify the best individual fit given their unique strengths, goals, aptitudes and preferences. Outside of this role, he is faculty supervisor of the SMUS Business Club and a part-time house parent in Bolton House.
