Nomination Process 2026
Sending date: April 3, 2026
On behalf of the Board of Governors of St. Michaels University School, we are writing to provide Society Members with the Nomination Papers for the nomination of candidates for the four seats on the SMUS Board of Governors that will become vacant following the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM).
What is the SMUS Board of Governors?
The Board of Governors is a volunteer Board focused on governance, oversight and strategic direction of the school, rather than its day-to-day operations. Governors volunteer to dedicate significant time and expertise to the Society, and are also fiduciaries of the school, responsible for overseeing the school's fiscal stewardship. Learn more
Nomination Process for 2026
Governor candidates can be nominated in two ways:
i) by the Board-appointed Nominations Committee (currently comprised of ten Society members);
ii) or by two other Society members.

Our Nominations process kicked off this year with the four current Governors that are eligible for and who wish to renew their Board terms. Each has successfully completed the returning Governors evaluation process, conducted by the Nominations Committee. Those four returning Governor candidates are Elisa Djurickovic, Fiona Donald, Matt Howard and David Kim. This was then followed by the Call for Nominations sent out to all Society Members on January 23, 2026, specifying the skills, expertise and experience the Board is seeking from new Governor candidates, after an evaluation of current and future Board needs. We thank those Society members who responded to the Call for Nominations and have generously explored the possibility of serving on the Board or Committees either this year or in a subsequent year.
Once we have received all Nominations for this year, the Nominations Committee will review and evaluate all candidates before making our recommendation to the Society, together with our rationale for our recommendation along with the Nomination Papers as submitted by all candidates.
If you are interested in putting your name forward as a candidate for the 2026 Board openings, we would ask that you ensure that you meet all requirements as set forth in the Nomination Papers and if so, please contact the Nominations Committee, at [email protected] at least one week prior to the April 24 deadline so that we might facilitate the process or answer questions you might have to ensure your submission is compliant with our Society's bylaws. For further information on the process, also see:
In general if you have interest in learning more about serving on a Committee, the Board, or any of these other volunteer organizations now or in the future, please email the Nominations Committee at [email protected]. We are always looking for new candidates to serve either now or in subsequent years.
All nominees must fully complete and submit the Nomination Papers via email, before the deadline. The deadline for submission of fully compliant and signed Nomination Papers is 5:00 pm PDT on April 24, 2026.
