Jeff Aitken is the Head of School at St. Michaels University School.
Dr. Jeff Aitken brings more than 28 years of experience in international and independent school leadership to St. Michaels University School. His career spans multiple continents and includes leadership roles in Canada, Singapore, Venezuela, and Malaysia. Jeff is passionate about building inclusive, globally minded school communities that prioritize academic excellence, well-being, and innovative education.
Before joining SMUS, Jeff served as Head of Upper School at Upper Canada College in Toronto. He previously held senior leadership positions at Dulwich College (Singapore), St. John’s Kilmarnock School (Ontario), the Tanglin Trust School (Singapore), the American International School in Venezuela, and the British International School of Penang (Malaysia). His work across CAIS, International Baccalaureate, and other leading school systems has shaped a global perspective that aligns with SMUS’s values and ambitions.
Originally from Toronto, Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre from the University of Windsor, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Strathclyde, a Master of Education from the University of Manchester, and a PhD in Education from Birmingham City University. He also completed a Certificate in Educational Leadership from Harvard Business School.
