Eliot Anderson, Director of Senior School

With just two weeks to go before we break for the holidays our calendar is full with a diverse array of culminating activities. From demonstrations of learning, final assessments, classroom celebrations and the renowned All School Assembly on the final day of classes, a breadth of opportunities awaits our students across all three campuses. This time of year is always exciting!

Of particular note for our parent community is the Carol Service scheduled for December 6 at Christ Church Cathedral and the Junior and Senior School music concerts on December 12. For comprehensive details, please refer to the online calendar.

These events present fantastic opportunities for our community to come together to witness our students' talents, enthusiasm and spirit in action. They always impress me and each year I am reminded of the strength of our collective student body. They are an impressive group! At the same time, I remain deeply appreciative of the guidance, preparation, and support extended by our faculty in the lead-up to these showcase evenings. How could one not harbor a profound sense of gratitude at this juncture of the year, in our corner of the world, at our amazing school? We are an immensely fortunate community.

With that said, we hope our students also embrace this gratitude and that it kindles within them a desire to give back and contribute meaningfully to their community. Throughout the year, we aim to offer avenues for all students to engage with our Service program. Of course, during this season, our Pillar of Service resonates particularly strongly with us.

At the Senior School, we were privileged to host a guest speaker from the YWCA Young Moms Program at our last assembly, which will focus our efforts as we approach the holidays. This marks our 15th year supporting this organization, and it is this enduring relationship that holds the most significance for our students. Similarly, the Middle School will focus their efforts for HerWay Home and the Junior School begins their ‘Season of Caring’ today. Their efforts will be aimed towards supporting another local organization, Anawim House.

So, as we sprint into the holiday season, we hope you join us in reflecting on how fortunate we are as a school community and support and encourage your children as they consider how best to give back.
