What began as casual math help between classmates at SMUS has grown into something remarkable. Dominic Ely and Ethan Curtis, now Grade 12 students, alongside recent graduate Jaden Berger-North '25, turned their passion for competitive math into AMC Academy — an online tutoring platform that blends human coaching with smart, AI-driven personalization. Building on the momentum they generated last year, when AMC Academy first caught attention at SMUS, the pair have continued expanding their tools, curriculum and coaching team, even hiring tutors from top universities around the world.

Recently, in an episode of The White Hatter Interview Series, they talked with Darren Laur about how a simple idea evolved into a scalable learning platform. They share what they’ve built, the challenges they faced as young entrepreneurs, how AI supports (rather than replaces) real human teaching, and why they believe students can — and should — use technology to create, innovate and shape their own futures.
