On three different afternoons this fall, the SMUS Single Gym will transform into a buzzing crossroads of possibility. Tables will be lined with banners from some of the most respected universities in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Admissions officers will lean in to talk with curious students. Parents will hover nearby, listening in as conversations spark new dreams and concrete plans.
It’s not every day that Greater Victoria students can meet face-to-face with representatives from dozens of universities without leaving the city—but that’s exactly what will happen at SMUS.
“Speaking directly with a university representative changes the way a student sees their future,” said Ruth McGhee, Director of University Counselling. “These fairs create moments of connection that no website or brochure can match.”
"Additionally, university fairs can introduce students to schools they may not have considered before. With representatives from local, national, and even international institutions, students may discover programs that align more closely with their academic interests and career goals."
University preparation is woven into every stage of the SMUS Senior School experience. From personalized counselling to events like these fairs, students are guided to think beyond graduation and explore the programs, scholarships, and opportunities that best match their ambitions. Hosting these fairs on campus reflects the school’s commitment to ensuring every student is ready to take the next step with confidence.
