Students love to explore new technologies. I love to see their enthusiasm when they discover what they are able to create and accomplish.

Maureen began her career in education as an elementary school teacher. During summers off, she worked as a technical writer, desktop publisher and website designer for a tech start-up. It was then that she realized the power of combining her love of teaching with the rapidly changing spectrum of technology.

She went back to school and earned her master’s degree in educational technology and returned to the education realm teaching Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at high schools. From there, she positioned herself into a role of supporting teachers and their use of technology in the classroom.

Maureen is involved with the Technology Club at the Senior School, and heads the First Robotics teams at the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. She says her role working with SMUS students is rewarding, as she gets to witness firsthand how students develop skills that reach beyond technology.

“The kind of work I see students create – it’s all about problem-solving. They’re learning logical skills, how to persevere and how to be creative.”

Outside of work, Maureen enjoys horseback riding, and she loves spending time with her family.
