Reflecting, Listening, and Looking Ahead: The Next Phase of Floreat 2030

As we reach the halfway point of our Floreat 2020-2030 strategic plan, this is a meaningful moment for our school community to pause, reflect, and listen. It’s a chance to celebrate the progress we’ve made, consider where we can grow, and ensure we continue moving forward with clarity and purpose.

This midpoint is also a moment to confirm that our shared vision continues to meet the evolving needs and aspirations of our community. Once input is gathered, I will work closely with the Board of Governors and the Senior Leadership Team to affirm our direction forward.

Over the coming months, I’ll be connecting with many voices across our community—faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, and governors—to gather insight on three key questions:

What are we doing well?
What needs attention?
What might be missing as we look ahead to 2030 and beyond?

This Review and Refresh process is not about creating a new plan; it’s about strengthening the strong foundation we’ve built together. It’s a chance to celebrate our achievements, identify opportunities for growth, and ensure our direction continues to align with the values of the SMUS community.

We will engage through surveys, focus groups, and conversations across the School. Students will share their ideas, parents will be invited to contribute feedback, and faculty and staff will participate in divisional discussions. I will also meet with leaders and volunteers across our community to hear directly from those who shape the daily experience at SMUS.

After this period of engaging and listening, the Senior Leadership Team and I will synthesize what we’ve heard and work with the Board of Governors to confirm that Floreat 2030 remains strong and relevant. We look forward to relaunching the refreshed plan in September 2026 with renewed energy and focus.

Our strength as a school has always come from the insight, collaboration, and commitment of our people. This same spirit guided the creation of Floreat 2030 more than five years ago—and it will continue to guide its evolution now. Together, through open dialogue and shared purpose, we will ensure that our vision for the future honours both our history and our hopes for what’s ahead.
