Richmond Road Campus
The beautiful Richmond Road campus is home to our Middle and Senior Schools as well as our purpose-built boarding houses.
The Richmond Road campus is a secure 17 acre site in the heart of Victoria, BC. We benefit from being located in a quiet, tree-lined suburb, which is close to shops, restaurants and all the amenities of a city.
The campus was originally the site of University School (founded in 1906), one of the schools that amalgamated to form St. Michaels University School in 1971. Today, it is both a traditional and modern purpose-built campus for our Middle, Senior and boarding students. It is also the location of the school's administration.

The Blue Atlas Cedar in front of School House is estimated to have been planted in 1910, the same year as the building was completed.
Opened in 2018, the impressive Sun Centre houses our dining hall and student commons.

The Crothall Centre for Humanities and the Arts was opened in 2003.

SMUS has three purpose-built boarding residences on campus.

The school's Chapel was dedicated in 1962 after it was built by the fundraising efforts of students.
Wenman Pavilion is dedicated to Reg Wenman, who was a student and teacher at University School from 1912-1971.
Buildings and Spaces on Campus
The most recognizable building on campus is School House, which was originally built in 1910. It now sits alongside modern purpose-built facilities like the Monkman Athletic Complex and the Schaffter Hall music building. Our newest building is the Sun Centre, opened in 2018. The Sun Centre includes our student commons and dining hall called Graves Hall, which has an amazing vaulted ceiling.
If you join us for boarding school, you will also live on the Richmond Road campus in one of our specially designed boarding houses.
You will also find lots of green spaces on campus. We have four full-size grass pitches and lots of spaces for students to relax outside and enjoy the British Columbia sunshine.
