Middle School students attend Model UN conference at Brentwood College

Twenty-three Middle School students represented St. Michaels University School at the Island Model United Nations (iMUN) conference, hosted by Brentwood College School on October 29. The annual event brings together students from schools across Vancouver Island to take on the roles of United Nations delegates and debate global issues through diplomacy and collaboration.

SMUS students participated in five different committees, tackling complex questions such as how nations might occupy territory in space without conflict and how the European Union can ensure energy security without undermining climate goals.

With position papers and research in hand, delegates spent the day engaged in spirited discussions and resolution building. Grade 7 student Shang Shang received special recognition for her outstanding contribution to her committee.

A celebratory dinner and the chance to watch the Blue Jays clinch a win on the big screen rounded out a memorable day of learning and connection.
