Senior School Music

Taking courses in the music program at the Senior School helps you develop skills as a creative individual, and one who appreciates the benefits of arts education.

We offer band, choir and strings courses for you to enjoy and to build your skills as a musician and singer. Supported by talented musicians and vocalists who teach our music courses, you'll gain competence and confidence in your own abilities.

Concerts are a regular part of the music program at SMUS, and you'll have the opportunity to perform alongside smaller groups of fellow students, as well as in ensemble performances alongside large groups of your schoolmates. All students in Grade 9 take a music course to ensure they are exposed to the benefits of musicianship.

Take part in a music and culture trip during Spring Break, where you’ll perform at concert halls, attend musical events and learn about the cultural and historical context of local music.

You can also join a number of extracurricular musical groups and clubs, including Piano Club, to further hone your skills.
